Bible Reading Plan

Redemptive-Historical Bible Reading Plan

This year we are doing a 16 part plan that reveals God's plan of redemption in the Old Testament. Here is what the organizer says about it:

"I have outlined redemptive history in 16 stages, from creation up through the open-ended expectation of the Day of the Lord. Then I provide carefully curated sections from the OT that trace this history. I tried to pick at least one chapter from every OT book, but to keep it reasonably short I had to leave some out. I also pepper in psalms along the way. Then, for each stage, I provide a chapters from the NT that bring out how each of those steps of redemptive history (for ancient Israel) are fulfilled in the new era in Christ." Greg Laniers Blog

We will have three to four weeks to read and reflect on each part.

We will reflect on PART 7 for three weeks.

Fearless 1 Samuel 17:47

Nazarenes come together to aid Vanuatu after cyclone

Two cyclones devastated the island of Vanuatu in April. The twin Category 4 storms displaced more than 3,000 people from their homes and damaged schools and medical centers vital to the island.

The disaster response team led by Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Asia-Pacific, Peter Isaac, and local leaders and church members are distributing relief items to the various local churches and communities in Vanuatu.

Isaac said that the Vanuatu District is grateful for the outpouring of support through prayers, words of encouragement, and finances to help the families affected by the cyclone.

He thanked the Melanesia South Pacific Field Office, NCM Asia-Pacific, friends, and families within and outside the churches who offered help.

The Vanuatu disaster response team distributed food and water at the following churches and their neighboring communities: Port Vila church, Bellevue church, Eluklom church, Etas church, D Malapoa church, the District Center church, Black Sand Naus church, Claims Hill church, Prima church, and five churches in Tana and Aniwa communities. A team from Passion church in Fiji came to help with clearing people's yards and rebuilding the damaged roof at the missions house.

Although a lot of work remains to rebuild infrastructure in Vanuatu, the people expressed their gratitude for the support and love of the church. The neighboring communities were thankful for the church's ministry through NCM for bringing food and water to their doorstep before anyone else did.

"We thank you all for praying and supporting our people to rebuild and recover from this tragic experience," Isaac said.

Pastor's Wives Sewing

Two Pastors wives were visiting and sewing their husband’s pants. One wife said: My husband is just beside himself, he does not know what to do anymore and he is so tired and depressed he said he is ready to just give up and resign.

The other wife said: I am sorry to hear that because my husband has never been happier. Our membership is growing and we are out of our financial burden, we have such a large and loving congregation. Life could not be any better than it is right now.

One woman was mending the seat of her husband’s pants, the other was mending the knees.
